A third-party search provider receives the name, telephone number, or address entered in a search form so it can return results. We do not save a separate copy of those searches on our servers. When you contact us, we receive the information included in your message and use it to answer you.
Information Collected Automatically
Our hosting services create routine logs that may contain an IP address, browser type, requested page, and timestamp. Aggregated log data helps us maintain the service and see which resources are useful. Cookies or comparable technology may support basic analytics and advertising measurement where used.
How We Use Information
We use this limited information to run the service, diagnose faults, measure overall traffic, and improve content. We neither sell a visitor list nor create individual visitor profiles.
Privacy on Linked Services
Links may lead to Durham or North Carolina government portals, library collections, and private search services. Information submitted after following a link is controlled by the destination's policy. Sponsored search results also come from a third party whose privacy terms apply to that interaction.
Who May Receive Information
Hosting and support vendors process logs for us. Analytics or advertising providers may receive the automatic data described in this policy. We may also disclose information when valid legal process requires it. We do not otherwise distribute visitor data.
Security and Retention
An encrypted connection protects data in transit. Server logs are kept only as long as reasonably needed for operation, security, and the uses stated above. Because there are no user accounts, Durham People Search holds no visitor password or account profile.
Visitors Under 18
The service is intended for adults and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. Contact us if you believe a minor submitted such information so we can remove it.
Your Privacy Choices
Your place of residence may give you rights to access, correct, or delete personal data held by a private service. North Carolina does not currently have a broad consumer law that creates a universal right to erase truthful public records. We can search our contact mailbox and logs for information tied to your request and remove what we control. Use the Contact page to ask. Records held by the City of Durham, Durham County, North Carolina agencies, or courts remain under their custodians and applicable law, including the North Carolina Public Records Law, N.C.G.S. Chapter 132.
